Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop Led by:
The Reverend Kevin Steeper B.A. M.Div. S.T.B. M.Ed. M.A. Dipl. Spir. Dir.
“Be still and know that I am God.”
Are you feeling a desire to deepen your prayer? Do you wish to learn more about the Christian contemplative path? Centering Prayer is traditionally called Contemplative Prayer. It is a method of prayer which prepares us to receive the gift of God’s presence. Centering Prayer opens our minds and hearts – our whole being – to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words and emotions. Centering Prayer facilitates the movement from more active modes of prayer – verbal, mental or affective prayer – into a receptive prayer of ‘resting in God’. It emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God. This introductory workshop includes both instruction and group practice in the method of Centering Prayer.
Learn to pray following the Christian contemplative tradition that is rooted in the book, The Cloud of Unknowing, and the writings of St. John of the Cross, Thomas Merton and Fr. Thomas Keating OCSO.
